Weekend 4th and 5th July

Well i think the following two pics from Phil’n’Chris in 383 taken on Sunday sum up the whole weekend. I won’t comment on who was flying when each was taken 😉

Sometimes it was like the left (or top), sometimes it was like the right (or bottom). It was mostly like the left (or top) when farthest from home…

Lots of soaring both days and instructional shenanigans.

Bright moment on a dull day

Sitting in my office catching up with boring stuff – heard that familiar whispering roar – looked out of the window – Red Arrows flying past at 500 ft under the overcast in their customary two group transit formation. They banked port simultaneously forming into double ‘vic’ formation and flew off to the south. NOTAM said they were due Reading 11:22, Newbury 11:25, Winchester 11:28. Time was 11:24 UTC … Their watches were probably more accurate than mine.

Now back to the boring stuff.

Post frontal – 11th April

On Friday I wrote of the prospects for Saturday, “Might be a little damp over cornflakes, but have a big bowl cos you could be airborne a long time.” for I had seen the forecast, and that had said there would be a  strong cold front passing over followed by a ridge of high pressure.

That’s pretty much how it turned out (except I had Weetabix)

11-1

I have to admit it was a bit windy but it streeted nicely and kept going nice and late as Mark shows below
