We use one of these to connect the drogue 'chute to the end of the winch cable. Carabiners have been used, but over time they seem to stretch, and they are more expensive than the Quick Links (aka "Maillon Rapides" - an oval steel loop with a threaded metal nut that joins the ends of the loop) to replace when work out / squashed through the Winch Rollers.
*As of 2009 we have used load rated Maillon Rapides. These should be done up with a spanner, hence spanners being attached to the winches.
*The ones we use are manufactured by Maillon Rapide, Type: PPENZ10. "10mm Standard Shape Galvanised Mild Steel Maillon Rapide (Quick link)"
* Spec: Height 89mm, Width internal 20.5mm, Gate Opening 12mm, Conformity: EN362, EN12275. Type Breaking Load: 55kN / Working Load Limit (WLL) 1100kg

Dyneema is expensive (2-3 times the cost of steel cable) and would probably only result in launches 100 foot or so higher than we achieve with steel cable.
