Incident Reporting Form

Guidelines & Procedures[edit]

The following guidelines and operational procedures have been developed to aid safe flying

Illness[edit]

Advice on Health may be found here

Alcohol[edit]

The club operates a zero tolerance on flying after consumption of alcohol. We fly members of the public as Trial Lessons, as such they are flight crew and subject to the same requirements.

Non-flying[edit]

First Aid[edit]

First aid kits are located on the workshop wall and in the launch point caravan. These are HSE compliant and include eyewash. They are new as of July 2010. If you use anything please let me know so I can replace the items.

Helicopter Ops[edit]

Army helicopters from Middle Wallop use our airfield for night flying practice. Their usual exercise is to practise a low hover in the dark, which they usually do over the old runway (west side / road side) of the field, often facing west but depends on the wind direction, about half way from the gate to the north rigging area. They are wearing night vision goggles, which have limited peripheral vision, and so can really only see in front of them; it also makes it very difficult to assess distances and speeds of moving vehicles.

If you need to come onto the airfield when they are practising, please observe the following:

  • keep well away from the helicopter
  • use the east side (field side) perimeter through Dingley Dell for access to/from the clubhouse and hangar area, unless it is obvious that that will bring you into conflict with the helicopter
  • do not shine headlights towards the helicopter

Working Alone[edit]

Consider letting someone know you are working alone and arrange to “check-in” when you have completed the work.

Dehydration[edit]

I hot and or windy conditions you may become dehydrated. Coupled with heat stroke this can put you in hospital. Protect yourself from the sun and drink plenty. More info at Media:Dehydration.pdf
