GM TH400 automatic transmission
Essential maintenance:
- Change oil and filter frequently
- Flush cooler for time to time
- Keep oil cool 65-80 deg C
When changing oil, disconnect inflow hose from external oil filter and run engine until oil stops draining, shut down engine and reconnect hose. When refilling use Dextron II ATF. Fill to top mark then run engine, check oil level after running the engine under load and top up to middle mark. Filter should be changed one a year.
Internal filter change requires removal of gearbox sump. Do not over torque gasket. Take care not to loose plastic pick up pipe which connects filter to gearbox.
