Winch Engines
As of 29th June 2020, the club currently has a total of Four Winch engines. One Chevy 454 Big Block engine in the Y winch. One Oldsmobile 455 engine in the X winch, another Olds 455 as a partially dismantled spare, and a Complete Pontiac 400 as a spare. The Oldsmobile and Pontiac engines have what is known as the B.O.P (Buick, Oldsmobile, Pontiac) bellhousing pattern. This is different to the Chevrolet Bellhousing Pattern. However, the mounting dowel and the 2 lower bolt positions are the same - the club has used a Transdapt adaptor plate to mate an Oldsmobile engine to a Chevy transmission. Doing this also needs a spigot adaptor and very careful measuring of the flexplate to torque converter spacing and machining of spacer blocks if required. Ask James Hunneman for details if this needs to be done.
