I left my phone behind so no pics, you’ll have to imagine that I’ve posted a shot of blue sky, a K8 just landed and Sergi getting out having just converted into it with a grin so wide it was brighter than the sun. Congrats! Lots of other nice flights on a day that was gently thermic from the first flight nearly to the last. Never mind FL195, Pete – we got to FL1.95 at Shalbourne today 🙂
Monday 26 August – hot! but busy
No dramatic new solos today but solo consolidation by Beanie and great progress from the SUGC team flying 2-seaters. It was hot!! and it was blue!! and it was soarable!! – and several took advantage of this. Andrew’s day course Fern had a whale of a time and Liz flew two of her neighbours. And I (Liz) would like to say a particular thank-you to Richard who selflessly instructed all day on a day so hot that nobody in their right mind would have volunteered to do so – which made it all possible. Hasta la vista!
Sunday 19 May
Lesson of the day – NEVER believe a bad weather forecast. It was soarable all day and cloudbase got high enough that you could easily go cross-country, in which activity various club and private gliders duly indulged. Attendance was small but select and good progress made by those in training including our course member of the day who is Pete Mortimer’s grandson. A good time was I believe had by all. See you next time!
Sunday 20 Jan – Nice!

Sunnier and less windy than expected: what a nice day it’s been! We’ve had a busy day with a final push on the BI training ahead of their course next weekend (good luck guys!), lots of keen SUGC pilots and in general, a fair bit of aviation being committed. Congrats to Matt Beckett for being signed off checks 🙂 After flying, the XC Coaching programme continued with our intrepid Team ICL learning how to analyse their flight traces and identify improvement areas. Here’s the moon rising over the field as we landed from the last flight.
