New Year – No Change

After a couple of dry days the Wednesday faithful’s hoped for the chance to fly but it was not to be.  The weather brightened up in the afternoon but the airfield was just too soggy.  A few of us entertained ourselves with a little light pruning extending gap in the hedge line on the approach.  It’s now wide enough for a glider (maybe even the Duo or the Nimbus).  As a result the thermal generator increased in size.

Now just waiting for a day when the ground is firm enough to enable us to fly with the launch point at the southern end – then we can light the blue touch paper.

More on the 29th

Rod took the opportunity to finish off his new improved breaking system.  He then drove it all day and gave us excellent launches (except when requested to make a contribution to annual checks).  He did let Paul P do a few launches while he flew.

As well as the instructor checks 2 annual checks were completed and another started.

It was just so good to be able to fly after such a long period of awful weather and sodden airfield.

What a glorious day

The 23rd had the best weather, by far, in December.  The kites were out soaring but (sigh) we were stuck on the ground.  In my case I was stuck halfway up the field when I inadvertently drove into the marsh area.  You guessed it – the airfield was to soggy to be able to move the winch.  So frustrating.

Saturday 19th December

Yet another day where the weather stopped us from flying, this time we have the double whammy of a soggy airfield and the blustery wind.

Still you can see from this photo that most of us just wanted a reason (any reason) not to go Christmas shopping 🙂
