Wednesday 9th December

After yet another weekend of non-flying weather there followed a Monday where the wind had dropped and the sun came out.  Fortunately, the weather held until Wednesday and we had a rather good day (for the time of year).  The wind had picked up sufficiently to give us launches of up to 1,900′ in the K13 and 2,200′ in the K8.

Third launch of the day saw Paul B thrown at the sky in the K8 and he seemed reluctant to return.  He parked himself over our landlords farm and just seemed to hover, returning after 29 minutes.  Others took advantage of the weak wave that Paul found but no one got close to his time.  Rob J claiming the runner up longest flight with 21 minutes and 7 more flights got into the double digits.

Chris K made an appearance as part of his recovery programme and Alan S took to the air for the first time in 4 years (just squeezing in a couple of launches before the light rapidly disappeared) .  Particular thanks to those who stayed for the challenge of packing the toys away in the dark.

Saturday 5th Dec

Well we all knew it would be too windy to fly today didn’t we but some of us had a good reason to be at the club this morning.

If you look towards the clubhouse door you will see that Jonty is working through his bronze exam which I’m please to say he passed with flying (sorry!) colours.

Well Done Jonty!

Oh and the rest of us?

We were putting the world to rights of course 🙂

Wednesday 2nd December

Forecast on Tuesday evening showed “thick cloud” all day with a moderate wind SSW.  Arrived at the airfield to find a clear blue sky and a lively westerly.  By the time we had pulled apart JPC and moved it to the workshop ready for its annual cloud had arrived but cloud base around 1,400′ and a fair amount of gaps.  the K8 was left in the hangar and the all flying was 2 up with 70 knot approaches – surprising smooth on approach though.  Using the small cable ‘chutes we were able to lay-off sufficiently to avoid dropping over the electric fence around the adjoining field (mostly).  Most of the flights were 6 minutes with one notable exception of Denis G getting a double digit flight time (just) – we even managed a few beats along the western ridge.

We tried! Wed 25/11/15

Shelter
Slight rain, drizzle then dry enough to launch.
11am Two launches into small drizzle.
Noon – downpour!
1pm Two further launches into heavier drizzle.
2pm Pull the plug before any more launches into rain.

Weather: more rain than forecast, but a little less wind

Gliders put away much cleaner!

Freshly washed canopy covers in place – please keep them out of the dust 🙂
